Messenger Attack

What do you know?   Little of this, little of that - 'this' being pop music & comics stuff, 'that' being vintage, photos, etc.

Having recently finished Peter Milligan’s run on Hellblazer, I’ve been reminded that John Constantine is possibly the best character in the history of comics; JC is at least, quite probably, the most consistently well written over a 25 year period.

The most abrupt last page of a comic I’ve read. Brutal. Words by Michael Fleisher, art by Gray Morrow - from Jonah Hex #90 (Apr. 85)

Love this pinup from All-Star Squadron #43 (March 1985).  Sad that the ‘secret origin’ alluded to in Roy Thomas’ blurb never saw the light of day.  It would have been gorgeous.

Cliffhanger from All-Star Squardon #48 (Aug. 85).  Words by Roy Thomas, art by Mike Harris/Vinnie Colletta.  Took me over 20 years to find out what happened next, but I’ve already forgotten.  I memorized virtually every panel of this comic as I read it, literally, to pieces. So funny how 8 year old me was satisfied with only 1/2 a story!
